South Tyrol's highlights - so close!

The village and its castle are inseparable, just as inseparable as your holiday and a visit to the noble old walls should be. Tyrol Castle is the residential castle of the Counts of Tyrol - it gave the province of Tyrol its name.

Exhibits and exhibitions on medieval culture and the history of the region are on display in 15 rooms. The castle itself is also extremely impressive!

Merano is green and blooming from March to October. It feels like the whole year-round. A city of gardens, parks and promenades, full of noble spa history. Palm trees and oleanders in front of snow-covered mountain peaks – in between the urban flair of the old town with its medieval arcades and magnificent Belle Époque buildings – Merano is best visited several times during your holiday!

Two treasures, rich in flowers and history, amaze visitors both inside and outside the walls of Trauttmansdorff Castle: 80 garden landscapes spread over 12 hectares and invite visitors to stroll, explore and experience nature. And the adjacent Touriseum, South Tyrol's regional museum for tourism, tells the story(s) of Alpine holidays from the past to the present day.

Founded by Hans Norman Falkner, the Falkner Promenade crosses under the centre of Tirolo on a 1 km long course. The many benches that line the promenade offer a magnificent view of the Merano valley basin. Well-tended flower beds with fragrant lavender and rosemary, as well as countless Mediterranean trees and shrubs such as cypresses, palms and olive trees accompany the path.

Just outside Tirolo, nestled between orchards and vineyards, the Burglehenpark is waiting to be explored. With its flower meadow, natural pond and 360° panoramic view, it is the ideal place to sit down, gaze into the distance and enjoy nature. And in the playground, children can enjoy travelling to adventurous fantasy worlds with the play horse "Jakob", a combination of artwork and playtime fun.
